artworks

I tend to get bogged down in the paper writing and the theory associated with graduate school and forget why I am doing this. Because I love art, history, education and I want to work in a museum. As a resolution (mainly procrastination- who am I kidding) I have decided to TRY post more about art works I love, museums I love and galleries I love. That's all.

Madame X by Sargent. One of my favorites

Since you are in a museum track, maybe you could also post what collection the work is in. :) I also really like that painting.

I think perhaps we are kindred spirits. Everytime I visit NY I spend a day at the MET. Even if I have only two days in NY, I spend a day at the MET - if I have but one day in NY, I still have to stop at the MET. And I always, always, spend a ridiculous amount of time standing in front of this Sargent painting.

In college I worked at an art museum as their resident art historian - would you believe me if I told you that I uncovered a couple Picasso sketches, Dali lithos, and an original Miro painting? Cuz I did. I *heart* museum vaults.
