Tri Thursday

So in order to stick with my resolutions, I decided every Thursday to post a little something about my physical goal of competing in a triathlon....

Really I got nothing. Okay, that is not entirely true. Since last semester I basically stopped running, swimming and biking due to crazy anxiety with grad school (which thus lead to increased anxiety in grad school), I've decided to use the month of January to start slow and to just get back into shape and into a schedule! So mainly I've been jogging at the new indoor track at school, swimming a few laps and biking on the trainers at the gym. Nothing intense or extreme, and in fact, I doubt my tri training will ever be intense or extreme, I'm just not that kinda gal.

I've also discovered a yoga core flow class on Monday nights that I like!* I'm excited about getting back into yoga, as I found that the hours I spent at work and at my desk reading or writing papers lead me to have terrible posture. After a few classes I'm already feeling my back get stronger and my shoulders slouching less.

At the beginning of the month I was using our Wii Fit for some yoga and strength building, but let me tell you that little scale thingy is a jerk and does not help me stick to my resolution of confidence. If I haven't been on it in two days it chastises me with "where you been? too busy to work out I see?" If I do the body test and have gained .9 lbs because I drank lots of water it asks me to list the reasons for my weight gain. While I admit the games are fun and I do like doing the yoga poses, I refuse to do body tests anymore (even if it means I don't get the fun stamp on my weekly Wii calendar).

Does anyone else out there have a Wii Fit? What do you guys think?

* If anyone out there is a Richmonder, check out the Happy Hour Core Flow classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Yoga Source in Carytown, only $10!

The little Wii trainers kind of backfire because I wont get on my Wii Fit for fear they will call me names. Sometimes I'm like "I should do some yoga on the Wii Fit." Then I think, "Eh, I haven't been on in awhile and I'm just not in the mood to be chastised by little robot trainers."

I've been thinking about getting the Wii just for the Wii fit!

The Wii Fit cracks me up - those trainers can get vicious, haha! Good luck with the training, participating in a triathalon's a great goal!

I agree - sitting all day does a number to your posture. I'll occasionally try to stand at work just to switch things up a bit. I need to check out the Monday night happy hour class -( just gotta find a way to get off work earlier). I've taken a core flow class there before and loved it.

PS You mentioned in a comment that the goddess tofu wrap from ellwoods is a splurge. Do you mean money wise or calorie wise?- I'm jut curious. :)

Yeah.... I wouldn't be too thrilled with it making comments like that. I don't need anyone else giving me a hard time. I do it enough on my own!
